Troublemaker

Are you a Windows Vista or Windows 7 user? Do you get an error message like below?
“You have been logged on with a temporary profile. You cannot access your files and files created in this profile will be deleted when you log off. To fix this, log off and try logging on later. Please see the event log for details or contact your system administrator.”
This problem usually occurs if your computer shutdown suddenly due to power failure or any other reason. Illegal shutdown might corrupt the current user’s profile. If you delete the user account accidentally from C:\Users\ than also you will get this error. However, you can fix this very easily. Here is the procedure-
1. Login to Window using Administrator or any administrative privileged user.
2. Click the Start menu.
3. In the Search box, type regedit and press Enter.
4. It will prompt User Account Control. Click on Continue for Windows Vista or Yes for Windows 7.
5. Registry Editor will open. Go to –
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE -> SOFTWARE -> Microsoft -> Windows NT -> CurrentVersion -> ProfileList
6. Click on one of the S-1-5….. folders (SID key) with the long number in it. It should have .bak at the end of it.
7. In the right pane, look at the ProfileImagePath to see if this is the same user account that showing the error.
8. Right click on the SID key, from step 6 with bak at the end, and click on Delete.
9. Click on Yes to confirm deletion.
10. Close regedit.
11. Log off and log on with that User. The profile folder you are having problems will be  re-created.
